Bingo

About

Built for UCI, by Group 10.

Bingo is the team project for INF 43 (Information & Computer Science, UC Irvine) — a course on requirements specification and design. The five of us spent the quarter writing the spec, debating the safety model, and shipping the web product you're reading now.

What we set out to do

Make meeting people in real life feel obvious again.

Discovery apps tend to push you toward an inbox. Bingo pushes you toward a place. The product's job is to surface a small number of people nearby who share what you're into, hand you a low-friction way to ask for a conversation, and then get out of the way.

The team started in week 1 of the quarter with an assumption that turned out to matter: that the safety model wasn't a feature you add on top of a discovery product, but the shape of the discovery product itself. Every visibility decision, every messaging gate, every tag-rendering check exists because we wrote it down first.

The spec is at homework/Requirements_Specification.md. This web product implements its first slice.
